Four checks, every time

  1. Unpack and let it expandTake the float out of its bag and give it time to open up fully before use.
  2. Check the floatLook over the cover, straps and buckles. Do not use it if anything is torn or cracked.
  3. Fit the strapsFasten the straps at the shoulders, chest and crotch and adjust them so they are snug.
  4. Stay within reachLower your baby into the water gently and keep a hand within reach the whole time.

How to set it up and fit it

Do a dry run at home before the first swim

  1. Unpack and let it open upTake the float out of its bag and give it time to open up fully. If it is a self-inflating model, open the valve and let it fill before closing it again.
  2. Check the sizeMatch the age and weight range shown on this page to your baby.
  3. Seat your babyOpen all the straps, then sit your baby in the seat with one leg through each leg opening.
  4. Fasten and adjustClose the crotch strap, the chest buckle and the shoulder straps, then adjust until snug. You should just fit two fingers under each strap.
  5. Into the water, slowlyLower your baby into the water gently and stay within arm's reach the whole time.
  6. Packing awayRinse, let it dry fully in the shade, then fold it back into its bag for travel.
